Ledger review

Correct the meaning without rewriting the source.

Review categories is always visible in Ledger. It is the sole category workflow; General Review remains for non-category decisions.

Ledger → Review categoriesReview categories stays visible even when empty. The first pass is local, and managed AI can only run after that pass if you explicitly authorize bounded proposals.

What can block completion

No current suggestions
Uncategorized transactions remain unresolved
No recheck has been run
Managed AI unavailable or not authorized

Local financial data: Category review state, merchant groups and saved corrections remain on the iPhone.
Privacy or AI boundary: The first pass is local. Managed AI runs only after that pass, shows eligible transaction and merchant-group counts plus bounded request and credit disclosure, and writes proposals only after explicit authorization.
If it does not work: Open Review categories again, or open the individual transaction to edit it directly.

Read the empty state

No current suggestions means there is nothing to review yet.
Uncategorized transactions remain visible and can still need review.
No recheck has been run means the local pass has not been refreshed since the last change.
One suggestion is still actionable; you do not need a count greater than one to do useful work.

Run Recheck categories

Open Review categories and choose Recheck categories.
Let the local pass run first.
The recheck may reconsider unresolved or Uncategorized transactions and machine-owned categories only.
User-confirmed or user-corrected field authority stays protected.
If the local pass changes nothing, managed AI remains optional and off by default.

Use managed AI only after the local pass

Managed AI is available only after the local pass completes.
Position shows eligible transaction and merchant-group counts plus bounded request and credit disclosure before you authorize anything.
Managed AI writes proposals only.
Nothing applies until you review the proposal and confirm it.

Review and edit the result

Before-and-after category changes are grouped by merchant.
Nothing applies until review is complete.
Apply remains atomic, stale protection stays in place and Undo remains available.
Open any individual transaction to edit it directly.

Keep the boundary clear

General Review is reserved for non-category decisions. Review categories is the only category workflow, so users do not need to hunt for hidden bulk controls or conditional actions.
